Supply - With summer upon us, Brunswick Community Hospital wants to be sure your babysitter is prepared for any emergency that might occur. Brunswick Community Hospital will offer Safe Sitter classes on Friday, June 27, and on Friday, August 8. Both classes will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Brunswick Electric Community Room at 795 Ocean Highway in Shallotte.
Safe Sitter is a medically accurate, hands-on, class that teaches boys and girls ages 11 to 13 how to handle emergencies when caring for children. Participants in Brunswick Community Hospital's Safe Sitters class will learn:
- What to do if a child chokes
- Safety for the sitter
- How to call for emergency help
- Babysitting business skills
- Basic child care skills (diapering, feeding, etc.)
- How to entertain children and keep them safe
The non-refundable registration fee for the course is $35. This fee includes the student manual and a Safe Sitter babysitting messenger bag with an "Important Numbers" Post-its pad, a Band-Aid dispenser and flashlight.
