The new hospital, which will be located approximately three miles north of the current hospital on Hwy. 17, will be named the Brunswick Novant Medical Center.

Novant Health has completed an agreement with Health Management Associates, Inc. (HMA) and purchased a 27 percent share of ownership of all seven HMA hospitals in North Carolina and South Carolina for $300 million. The parties completed the transaction on March 31, 2008.
Brunswick Community Hospital has completed the purchase of a 100-acre site for its new 74-bed facility. The new location is approximately three miles north of the hospital's current site and is on the South-bound side of Hwy. 17.
