Supply - Brunswick Community Hospital was recently honored with four 5-star awards from Professional Research Consultants (PRC), a national healthcare marketing organization that conducts satisfaction surveys to evaluate hospitals.
For the past nine years, the PRC National Excellence in Healthcare Awards have recognized organizations and individuals rated at the top of the healthcare industry in comparison to other PRC members nationwide. The 2008 National Excellence in Healthcare Awards were awarded based on surveys completed by patients, employees, and medical staff physicians in 2008.
"We're extremely honored to have received multiple PRC National Excellence in Healthcare Awards," said Denise Mihal, Brunswick Community Hospital president. "These awards reflect our efforts to ensure that Brunswick Community Hospital is a remarkable place to receive care, work, and practice medicine."
PRC honors healthcare organizations with 5-Star and 4-Star awards, depending on how many staff and physicians rate the facility as "excellent" in a broad range of areas. A 5-Star award means the facility scored within the top 10 percent of national healthcare facilities, and the 4-Star award means a healthcare facility scored within the top 25 percent. Other healthcare facilities in PRC’s database include the Mayo Clinic, Carolinas Medical Center, and WakeMed.
Brunswick Community Hospital received 5-star employee satisfaction awards in the categories of executive leadership and immediate supervisor. For medical staff satisfaction, anesthesia and emergency services received 5-star awards.
In addition to the four 5-star awards, the hospital also received 11 4-star awards. 4-star employee satisfaction awards were received for overall quality of patient care, the facility as a place to work, communication, employee empowerment, employee training and education, teamwork between departments, teamwork within departments, and the total compensation package. For medical staff satisfaction, Brunswick Community Hospital received 4-star awards for the overall quality of care, radiology services, and administration.
