The national HealthLeaders Media organization has recognized Novant Health with the 2010 Top Leadership Teams in Healthcare Award for large hospitals and health systems. Novant representatives received the award during a national presentation on October 21, 2010 in Dallas, Texas.
HealthLeaders Media provides information and guidance on trends in the healthcare industry and for its senior executives.
The Top Leadership Teams in Healthcare award program, sponsored by GE Healthcare, is now in its seventh year. The program is designed to celebrate the outstanding teamwork that occurs in healthcare organizations each day, to share what makes top leadership teams successful and to encourage other healthcare leaders to learn more from the best practices of top leadership teams.
The other 2010 winners include Columbus Regional Hospital, Columbus, IN for community and mid-sized hospitals; Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich, NY for small hospitals; Crystal Run Healthcare, Middletown, NY for medical group practices; and Network Health, Medford, MA for health plans.
???One of the common traits that is obvious with all of the winners in 2010 is their sense of urgency to improve,??? says Jim Molpus, Strategic Relationships Director for HealthLeaders Media and chair of the Top Leadership Teams in Healthcare program. ???We attribute much of the rush to greatness to the rapidly collapsing and evolving business models in healthcare delivery. The winners in 2010 can truly serve as models for others in healthcare to know that change can come quickly, because it will have to in the future.???
Paul Wiles, President and CEO of Novant, explained that HealthLeaders officials compared Novant to other award applicants, conducted an onsite visit and interviews, and discussed leadership philosophy with managers and supervisors in the organization.
???This recognition pays tribute to all leaders in our organization, from frontline supervisors to senior leaders and trustees. This group of leaders embraces our vision for patients and the communities we serve,??? Wiles commented.
Winners are judged on the team???s overall leadership culture, its ability to overcome challenges, and its ability to demonstrate successes that result from outstanding leadership teamwork. Only one winner per category receives this national honor each year. More information about the awards program is available at www.healthleadersmedia.com.
